Renewable Fuel DECEMBER UPDATE

Oil Heating Users – Please ACT NOW to STAND UP FOR THE FUTURE OF YOUR HOME HEATING.

We are pleased to say that following our efforts with introducing renewable fuel trials supported by UKIFDA and OFTEC, the Government has commenced a consultation about how homes like your will be heated in the future.

Make sure you are given a real choice

Oil heating is the most popular choice for many rural homes, but we all know carbon emissions need to come down, and there’s a practical solution.

We have successfully tested a low-cost, lower-carbon renewable liquid fuel blend , especially at the renewable village at Kehelland, that works with your existing boiler and tank. It’s ready to use now.

Even though a consultation has been launched on alternative heating options, the Government’s plan is clear: most oil-heated homes are expected to switch to heat pumps, while renewable liquid fuel blends are being largely ignored.

What the consultation says

(* Data is from the UK Government – Exploring the role of alternative clean heat solutions)

  • Heat pumps and heat networks will be the primary low-carbon technologies for decarbonising heating
  • Heat pumps cost £16,900–£17,100* to install
  • Running costs are estimated at £1,700–£1,750 Per year*

What it doesn’t tell you

  • An oil boiler costs around £1,500 per year to run, using the same assumptions as the consultation
  • Electricity is assumed at 19p/kWh, but today the average price cap unit rate is 27.95p/kWh
  • Heat pump installation costs don’t include extra work like insulation

Why renewable liquid fuels make sense

  • Cut emissions straight away
  • Keep your existing boiler and tank
  • Avoid huge upfront costs

Together we can make government listen

  • Thousands of oil-heated households need to speak up – please be one of them
  • Every response strengthens the case for renewable fuels
  • Rural communities deserve real choice: practical, affordable and sustainable heating, not one size fits all solutions
